W7 and W6 are built for SQ not SPL. If you just want some real loud there are much cheaper options out there, but to answer your question...W6's all ****n day baby

They are both SQ oriented drivers, but the W7 is intended more for a combination of SQ and output, whereas the W6v2 doesn't really compromise SQ at all for output.

rms on the w6 is 400 i believe

not like the w7 is that much higher to notice a huge difference compared to a w6

The W7 handles a LOT more power than the W6. It has a longer, larger diameter VC, a significantly higher xmax, as well as significantly higher suspension travel.

The W7 is very comfortable at power levels that would rip the W6v2 apart.

yes that 500 watt thermal rating is for the 10"... i've heard one at close to 800 and not struggling... jl wants the thermal rating to keep the sub lasting forever

Most companies do. Reminds me, today this kid was asking me if JL had a lifetime warranty on W7's lol.

they very well could, if you don't excede that thermal rateing i don't see how you could burn that thing in 20 years i know you're not gunna burn the coil, and the spider might as well be invinsible only part i think could be better if the surround

EDIT: i believe the reason that jl has stuck with foam instead of a more exotic approach is due to the allready astronomic price of building the sub, i wouldn't be suprised to see the material change in the future as jl gets richer and gains the ability to manufacture them better and better

They'd wear out. Subs are wearing items. Amps can last a long *** time but subs, no. FYI the surround doesn't matter anyway?
