1 TC 10 OEM vs 2 TC1000's

So I have 2 TC 10 OEM's but I'm wondeirng if one can play as loud or sound as good as 2 TC 1000's.

Right now I have 2 TC 1000's in a downfire box under the rear seat in my Titan KC, they are loud enough for me. I was considering switching to 1 TC 10 OEM and lifting the seat behind the driver so as to be able to forward fire the TC 10 OEM (It is way to massive to down or upfire).

This would allow me to use the room under the passengers rear seat for storage.

How much of a loss would I have switching to a single 10? I don't have an amp for it yet but the TC 1000's are driven off a Diamond D5 1200.1 I would probably just grab a PDX 1000's for the TC 10 OEM.

I would fit both TC 10 OEM's under the rear seats, but I have no way to latch the rear seats if the box is keeping them proped up and I 4x4 my truck and Don't need to worry about a sub box smacking me in the head or the seats and box from bouncing up and down. I'm not even sure how I will keep the one rear seat from flopping around with a single 10" OEM. If I switched to 2 of these subs I would also need an upgraded alternator and I guess 2 PDX 1000's (small amps that I can mount behind the rear seat) anything larger than those and it will not fit.

Need advice. -THanks

I wouldn't see how you would have more output from 1 OEM10. I run a TC OEM10 in my xB and it's an amazing sub, but I don't think that it could keep up with dual TC1K's. Just my .02 though. If you decide to ditch those OEM10's let me know. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I don't think it would have more output either but it would dave ALOT of space and if it could do say 80% I would probably be happy with that as a compromise.

Not everyone has a truck to put subs in :p

But I guess the TC1000 are a better match for the truck, I'm just not happy with my box. I had to put the feed on some MDF plates to raise it, and it keeps sliding off the blocks even though the seat presses into it nice and snug. Plus I had to make the feet longer and I tried screwing into the MDF and it cracked so the spacers I made keep falling off too.

so Basicaly I have a box with feet, with added spacers for feet, then some MDF boards because I still had too much carpet sag //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Yea, only I rent a room so yea, no table saw here. Even if I did I have never made anything that required such percise dimensions and angled cuts. The box I have now was made on a CNC, it's a sealed prefab designed to fit under the rear seat in my specific model truck. Unfortunately it was a prototype and does not fit quite right. The company decided to not make sealed downfires because most people like ported boxes since they tend to be louder (bang for buck). I have their ported enclosure too and like my sealed downfire better. Even if it does take twice the power to get things movin. The sound is alot better.

I was looking into having a box made about $280 shipped though. So no building another downfire box isn't going to be cheap. If I have to pay 280-500 to have another box made I want to make sure I'm building it for the right woofers. I have already tried 2 boxes and 6 subs in this truck and it's getting expensive to continue to f*ck around with it.

The box also has to be exactly the right height and take into acount carpet sag (carpet will poof up an inch or so under the sub if the mounting legs/edges are too narrow. As it is the woofer only has about 2 inches clearance from the floor. The box will need to be only 5/8th MDF as using 3/4th inch will not fit the TC1000 without routing space for the magnet or else putting the woofer too close to the floor.

Maybe forward firing would be easier but I don't have the skills or tools to play around with it. I'd really like to get the same/similar volume from a single sub as the two I have now to get back some of my storage space.

Keep in mind this is an offroad vehicle, so tossing a box in the back without being able to secure it, is not going to fly. I don't need that shit poping up and breaking my interior or my head.

I wish I had a truck to put my gear in. The OEM10 is a stealth install in my '05 Scion xB. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Fiberglass FTW!!

I do think that you'd be better off sticking with your dual TC1K's though. I'll do some thinking on your situation and see if I can come up with anything that might be of some help for you. Could you post some pics of your install/box as it is now? That would be helpful for me.
