1 replacement for two Type R's?

Okay, I think I decided on 1 15" Avalanche. Questions:How would I wire it to the 1200D? My dad wired my current subs, I know nothing about ohms... and wouldn't know how to wire it to be 1 ohm or whatever, but with guidance I'll be fine.

Also, anyone feel like giving me box plans for the Avalanche?

LASTLY, will one 15" Avalanche in a custom built box equal anywhere near the two 12" Type R's in the pre-built box running off the same 1200D amp?

Thanks guys!
Why dont you put the type-r's in a custom box? I hate to say it, but I don't think the 15" will get as loud as the two 12's.

2x it wont....hate to say it but the R's are more of a trooper than that avalanche in output and probably durability. I know of a certain team that went thru an azzload of recones on avalanches trying to do big numbers with them, and it seemed like a waste of time imo

the only single sub setups i have experience with are 12" mag, 15" xxx, and 12" type r. personally i would stick with the type r's...throw more power at them. i have a magnum (the old claw basket, little baby needs a recone now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif ) and i LOVED it, but i just dont see a single anything, being able to keep up with a double sub setup, in COMPARABLE installs. youve simply got more cone area with two subs.

btw: i think you just clipped the type r to death ( my friends 12" takes 2k daily). i would get another type r, and another orion 1200 and wire each of the subs to 1 ohm ( i beleve its max power comes at 1 ohm like the 2500d's, and of course this is assuming you got dual 2 ohms type r's). then just get a 50hz -6db test tone and set the gain with it (-3db if you wanna be on the safe side).

One 15" Type R is just as loud as Two 12" Type R's, and get lower

why didnt you just buy a 15" Type R instead

(BTW, thats coming from TCAB Mark Potts, he hit the same number with a single 15" Type R, that he did with two 12's)

Nice to know... just couldn't justify spending all I have left on building a new box and buying a bigger sub. By August I'm sure I'll wind up doing it though.
i guarantee you another 1200d will not hurt, they can easily take one a peice, if you dont clip. my friend does nothing but listen to his at the highest volume he can, and hes giving it 2k everyday of the week.

btw if i remember correctly, simply by specs, 1 15" type r will NOT be as loud as 2 12". going with the 2 12's was the better idea.

edit: i just noticed you have the 1200d WCC version...do those still give out 1200 watts or did they write that as a "max" spec?

RMS @ 4 ohms 1 x 475Watt

RMS @ 2 ohms -

RMS @ 1 ohm 1 x 1160 Watts

Well TCAB Pulled a 150.7 off a single 15" Type R and a Orion 2500D @ 1 Ohm and a 150.1 with two 12" Type R's off the same amp, if it was that close ide just get the 15 simply for the fact that it'd be just as loud but hit deeper

I only have an Orion 1200D, don't feel like spending money on a new amp or better electrical system.. Will it even MOVE the MT? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Where would I be able to get it reconed? I REALLY don't want to ship a sub everywhere over the U.S....
