Ok, I'm getting 2 X 15" HX2's soon... punch series, not power....

THe recommended enclosure is a vented enclosure. and in the case of a single sub, it should have one port 4" X 8"(35Hz) in a 2.5 Sq. Ft box...

Now, since I'm planning on getting two (I made this mistake the first time) subs, the 2.5Sq.Ft. should remain at the same size, right?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Now for the ports... do I have to double the number of vents? or if I should still use only 1 port, instead of 2 ports, could I use two 4 X 4" ports instead?

stop laughing, I'm a newbie, so please understand...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

or if there's not much of a difference, should I just get one sub? Planning to get either a RF 1000bd.1 or a JBL BP1200.1.... these amps can handle two punch HX2's without a problem, right?

How much space do you have to work with ? (Height x Width x Depth)
Well, my minivan //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif should be able to accomodate the following:

18" X 14" X 37" at most... I don't wat to sacrifice all my loading area, and I do want access to my spare... That's why the depth is limited to 14"...

so the maximum length for a port, should the port be facing the same as the cones, be about 10", with 4" clearance inside the chamber.

Number of Ports = 4 (2 per chamber)

Port Diameter = 3"

Port Length = 11"

Box Volume = 3.72 ft^3

Box Tuning = 39.3 Hz

Or go with a slot port configuration for a lower tuning frequency ...
You're right, Jmac, I want to go with a lower tuning frequency... so how would I go about the perimeters for a slot port?

I want to reach about an fb of 35Hz or so...

ikesound doesn't have power HX2... I'd love to use them instead, though...
I've learned that they can get most anything from the brands they carry. For instance, I really needed two Alpine SWR-1021D subs but they weren't listed on their site. So I gave them a call and spoke with Anthony and he said they could get them for me from their supplier.

You might want to give that a shot if you really want the Power HX2's instead.

Well,I've spent all weekend at home, trying to design the enclosure and the slot port design looks pretty decent to me...so I'll go along with what you initially told me, the slot ports...

ok, another thing...

you said 40" port, so I've put a 90 degree bend on the passage, and now I've two new questions...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

1. if I want to put the subs in two identical chambers with the same exterior dimensions, can I reduce that port length to 20" instead, keeping the height and width?

2. Is it advisable to have two 180 degree bends? That way, the port would look like a maze... no reason for doing so, I just wanted to know, to see what other kind of designs I could come up with...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

Ok, and I think I've changed my mind, from 2 X 15" punch HX2, to 2 X 12" power HX2...

the 15" is just too darn big to fit in the boot, as well as have adequate space to access the spare...

Ok, and JBL 1200.1 it is... that'd give me enough power to push the twin HX2's, right? Oh please tell me they're a good combo...:p

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
