Hi everyone, im new to this forum, so this is my first post.
I recently just got 2 JL Audio 12w6v2's (12 inch) and i already have a kenwood 910-5d amplifier. Since these subs are dual 4-Ohm voice coils and this is a mono amp, from my understanding, i can only have it wired as a 4-Ohm load or 1-Ohm load, is that correct?
My amp can put out 900w rms at 1 or 2 ohms, and 500w rms at 4 ohms. If i was to wire as a 4 ohm load, i would only be feeding the subs 250w rms each. This is much lower then they can handle which is 600w rms. Is there anyway to wire these down to 2ohm so i can get the 900w rms out of the amp? I am afraid to wire down to 1 ohm since i have read multiple reviews that the bass has a tendency to fade out when this amp has a 1 ohm load (even though it states it is 1 ohm stable).
Also, i am using 4awg ground and power wires, would this be enough for a 1 ohm load? What gauge speaker wire should i be using?
If i was to keep the gain on the amp down when it is set up as 1 ohm, could this solve the problem of the bass fading out? Would a capicator help this possible issue or a HO alternator?
Any help would be appreicated.
