1 ohm wiring question

hey,

i have 2 DVC 4 ohm subs that im wiring down to 1 ohm. i was looking at the diagram below and im not sure how this works. since i have 2 subs i have 4 wires, 2 positive and 2 negative. now my amp has terminals for 4 speaker wires, 2 positives and 2 negatives. my question is, when wiring at 1 ohm, does each wire get its own terminal or do i have to twist together the postive from one sub with the positive from the other and put it into one terminal and do the same thing with the negative? that pic doesnt look right to me. It LOOKS like that would be a 4 ohm load, not 1 ohm. oh well.

I have the same problem..what i did was i have 2 wires comming out of sub box..1 neg 1 pos...and i bridged them to get the full 1 ohm load...mine were like this ++ - - i put the wires on the outside terminals..not sure if this is same for ur amp..but i had a 4 ohm load that i had to deal with.. cause i have 3 12's dual 6's

The first thing we need to know is what amp you've got. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Are you using a monoblock that has dual paralleled output terminals or are we talking about a 2 channel unit? Since you are asking about running a 1 Ohm load for the sake of this discussion I will assume that we're talking about the former rather than the latter.

There are many monoblocks currently on the market that have dual output terminals that are paralleled internally, meaning that even though there are more than one output terminal on the outside of the unit they are fed by the same output coming from the amp - ergo regardless of how you connect wires to it (assuming that you get positive and negative in the right places) the power for all of it comes from the same source. The diagram you showed was correct. For a pair of Dual 4 Ohm subs the positive output from the amp needs to be connected to all 4 positive inputs on the subs and likewise for the negative. The dual connection terminals are simply to make it easier to connect all of it to your amp. I reckon just to keep everything straight connect one sub to one terminal and the other sub to the other terminal....but it doesn't particularly matter either way.

theres more than one way to wire 1 ohm ? right because if so my setup is wrong.

woofers are set up like + + and - - then 2 leads going out and goin in to 1 set of terminals + - then other woofer is the same way. this would give a 1 ohm load correct?

It ALLLL depends on the R of the coils man.

there dual 4 if thats only a 4 ohm load man o man so the 2 woofers are not connected to gether like on positve is not going to the other ones positve just woofers to the amp

exactly. you don't wire the 2 subwoofers together. you wire each sub independently, connect to the corresponding terminals on the box, then wire to each terminal on the amp for each speaker. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

okay so let me see if i understand. if my subs are not connected correspoding on the box i would be only getting a 4 ohm load?
