1 of my 2 subs is getting hot...

Well recently rewired my set up for my new amplifier which is a RE XTv3 1600.2.

I have 2 JL Audio 12 W3v2-D2.

I wired them like this:

I dont know if I wired the subwoofers in a incorrect way or something.

One subwoofer stays nice and cool and the other one gets warm fairly fast.

If I turn my music up louder for a few minutes it will get hot.

What could be wrong?

I asked a friend locally and he said sounds like the sub is blown. Could that be so?

well, first thing, recheck your wiring to make sure they are up at 8ohms, not having 1 at 2. next, put a dmm on all 4 coils to make sure it isn't blown

check ur connections then switch the subs in the box. could have something to do with ur box as to why this is happening...

Instead of having sub #2 wired to sub #1 it should be wired directly to the amp... Probably dosen't matter that much but that is how I would do it...

As far as one sub getting hot, it could be a bad solder joint which is heating up right under the dustcap.. or perhaps one sub has a bad coil and is only getting 1/2 the power of the 'hot' sub... (its fairly normal for subs to get hot)

As posted check out your subs and wiring with a DMM...

I've done that before, it's not wired right. 1 sub is at a funky ohm load.

also could do the oposite with a shorted coil, and that coil would take most of the power from the amp. have seen that before. can't say 'till you ohm it
