Any reason we can't discuss the project in the thread? I think it would be beneficial to the group. I have a 69 Lincoln Mark III. I plan to put a single 12" subwoofer in the trunk. The rear deck is a pita because of some unkown (to me) air hoses that mount to it. There are 2 existing openings from the trunk to the cabin. This is where the existing speakers are.

I can put the subwoofer anywhere i need to so you can get creative.

Is it possible to solve my problem of getting bass into the cabin with a stand alone box like the ones in your designs thru-out this thread? Or do you think i need to turn the trunk into the box? Would the existing 3"X3" openings on either side allow enough "energy" to pass thru to the cabin?

In residential audio there is a product from Sonance called bandpass. It lets you hide the subwoofer in the ceiling and the only thing you see is a tiny circular opening. What are your thoughts about this being effective in an automobile? Interested in taking a crack at designing this for my vehicle? The subwoofer is sealed with the exception of the "hose".

There is a lot of space under the rear deck. This is where i would like to put it if possible. When i get the car back this week i can send you exact measurements.

Adding... FYI the subwoofer is inside of the box. I wasn't sure if this was obvious from my comments above. So basically its a sealed recntangle with the wub mounted inside and the only opening is the "hose". There are several other companies doing the same thing.

This "solution" is all about pleasing the interior designers and obviously its not optimal. But maybe we can tweak it to work for car audio?

I'm not sure about that. But we have old schools like that come into the shop with those same types of trunks in the. People run systems in those all day long.

I do things like this through email so I can keep up with them.
