can you run 1 alpine 12r sub dvc 4 ohm with an orion 1200 d wired at 1 ohm or do you have to wire the amp for 2 ohm with just one sub?

no 2ohms or 8ohms, get another one and wire it down to 2ohms and your amp will see a 1ohm load

You would need the dvc 2ohm type r, it results in a 1 or 4 ohm rise.

ive got a d4 type r 12, running @ 2 ohms with my orion 1200d

i might trade for a d2,and run @ 1 ohm

Yes get the D2 so your amp can see a 1 ohm load.
