1 18" in ~14 cubes?

Why not just make the box to take up your whole trunk or whatever, but then cut the size down to around 8 cubes for 1 18 by maybe making false walls and such? Would def. work out better for you imo, because 14 cubes is just too big for an 18 to be honest. I would get a single 18 depending on if you want spl, sq, etc... and then an amp to match it, and do somewhere around 8 cubes tuned to 33 hz?? Just a suggestion.
Does a single 18 tuned around there off maybe 3k ish have plenty of potential as far as breaking a 50? Or is that unlikely using any of these options I'm considering

Well Tommyk90 got this:

Single DD 9515, kicker zx2500 (1 ohm)

-154.3 @ 42 hz (kick), 152.4 @ 42 hz (headrest)

that was with a 15, so yes, an 18 will be able to get that loud. Your box and tuning as well as electrical will play a big role though. BUt yes, possible none the less.

thats tommyk90....hes been doing it for years.....

no comparison....

break a 50 w just 1 18/.......i doubt it

You don't need the woofer right up against the seats to seal it off, you just have to build up walls attached to the sides top and bottom of the box leading up to the back seats. IMO think 8-10" walled (cave-like?) of space between the woofers/port board to the back seats will not be bad at all. Kind of like looking into a cave with woofes in the back if the seats were down. Your going to want to ensure the wall seals off the rear deck as well. Then you can use the remaining space to build a nice amp rack and display your wiring skills visible when you open the trunk. 2 15's in 10 or so cubes gross, plus the cave and amp racks and your good to go.

Somebody stop me if I'm way off base here.

if its done right, it would be like a 4th order

thatd be nice.s

Yeah.. either a bandpass or quadruple baffle the front, uber bracing, small child, and an 18''.

Would be perfect cubic footage //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

True, but he did 154 with a single 15, I'd say there's a big difference in difficulty between that and a 150 with a single 18

I was thinking more like a good-sized child, we're talking about almost 5 cubes I'd have to occupy, anybody got a fat kid they're sick of hauling around?

I'm probably going to end up trying several things and then stopping when I find something I like, starting with experimenting with 1 and then both MJ's and if I'm not satisfied move on to trying some other driver(s), probably'll waste a lot of wood but imo its more than worth it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Still glad to hear input from anyone who's offering

split the trunk into two sections horizontally the lower sealed section and the upper ported section if done correctly you could do 2 15" or 18" even 21"! probably - it would be uber efficent with so much room on the ported side.

hmmm well if it was split it'd only be about 6-7 cubes gross each side so idk about how much space they need in a bandpass but...that'd be an interesting idea, then again I still have no clue how to go about designing a bandpass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

What's a good program for em?
