1 18" in ~14 cubes?

Does anyone know of an 18" driver that would particularly do well in an over-sized box (~14 cubes, between 13-15) tuned anywhere from ~28-35ish

And preferably something that can take a considerable amount of power (at least 1500 watts, but would rather be able to give it ~2500 even in a box that big?

Thanks for any suggestions, and no a 21" isn't an option

If there isn't much that'll do well in 14 cubes, say 7-9 cubes? and take 2500 watts, tuned to 28-40hz?

Need some suggestion

I'd still much prefer if there's something that can perform well and take power in 13 cubes+, there has to be some sub that just loves huge *** enclosures, i hope //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

A DD 9518 would probably do well in about 7 cu ft and you could feed that baby power all day.

An Fi BTL 18 says to have 5-10 cu ft. and if you get BP I'm sure you could throw between 2.5k and 3k at it....

Wow, never heard of anyone wanting to take up double the space that is required. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Why not 2 SX 18's? Should do good in ~7 cubes each with ~1200 watts..

Are you getting rid of the MJ18M's?

Dont have the face area to do two very easily, and if I do they can't be very bulky drivers, plus its gonna take alot more work

Haven't decided on the MJ's, I'll either try them doing both in about 14 cubes at 22-23hz (switchable to 33hz when I want to get a little louder), or I'll do a single beefier 18 like I'm suggesting here

why not do 2 15's then? or do you not have face area for that either? Must be a weird box to have 14 cubes but not enough space for 2 18's???
it is a wierd box, it'll basically take up my entire trunk (will be built inside) no matter which way i decide to go

2 15's is another thing I'm thinking about, but it'll be iffy on whether or not it'll fit easily, plus isn't 14 cubes for 2 15's still pretty huge? Or are there some 15's that'll do particularly well in 7 cubes a piece?

Edit: just did test fitting in sketchup with 2 15's...even 2 12's would be barely worth not just going all out and doing 2 18's and doing the extra work

Again, its complicated, and you'll see when I actually start to build it, but yea back to the original question

2 18's would be better in that size box...
I know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Here's a question...which do you guys think would be louder: 2 MJ's in 14 cubes off 1600 watts, or 1 beefy 18 (like a BTL or something in that range) in 7-9 cubes off of ~2000 watts (maybe 2500 max, and if I'd gain from it I might get different amp to give it more like 3k+)

oh, MJ's would have changeable ports (between 22hz and 33hz), BTL MIGHT have changeable, but most likely will just be tuned to ~34hz

and I could also decide later I want to shrink the MJ's down to more like 9 cubes as well, so thats an option too, please compare and contrast these in your opinion

you stuck on those brands, or taking recommendations for others?
thats a huge box, but you can shrink it down by making an abnormally large port
Hmm...thats an idea, and I made the thread to look for any brand, anything beefy that'll love a big box/port, but if I'm doing two, it has to be the MJ's unless there's a more compact 18 out there, but I'd rather just stick with the MJ's if I'm doing 2

One other option I suppose would be a bandpass? is 14 cubes for a single 18 normal for a bandpass or still way too big? Also I know almost nothing about designing bandpasses so I'd need alot of help with that...idk, bandpass would work well though as far as face area, I could maybe do 2 18's comfortably, definitely could do 2 15's, if anyone's familiar with bandpass sizes feel free to drop a suggestion

Why not just make the box to take up your whole trunk or whatever, but then cut the size down to around 8 cubes for 1 18 by maybe making false walls and such? Would def. work out better for you imo, because 14 cubes is just too big for an 18 to be honest. I would get a single 18 depending on if you want spl, sq, etc... and then an amp to match it, and do somewhere around 8 cubes tuned to 33 hz?? Just a suggestion.
