Hey guys i'm looking to replace my 2 jl 12w3v3 subwoofers with 1 15'' subwoofer.

I'm currently using a mtx 1000xd amp and my current subwoofers are in a pre fab ported box.

my plan is to replace the 2 12w3 subs for a 15'' subwoofer between $400 and $500. I will be using a pre fab box for the 15 along with my current 1000xd amp until i can afford a new amp and a custom box.

I am looking for a 50/50 mix of spl/sq and obviously want the new sub to be noticably louder and better sounding than the 12w3s I have now.

a couple of questions i have are.

could 1 15 be louder then the 2 12's with the same amp? I'm going to eventually change the amp but it would be nice to see improvement before then?

I'm also planning on doing the big 3 upgrade and upgrading my battery.

I've been looking at the ssa xcon or a fi q but i'm not sure if that will get louder than my 12w3's. any suggestions or input would be greatly appreciated!
