1 10 ported vs. 2 12s sealed?

I've got a single ported 10 (IDQ V1 in .75 cu ft at 33hz, per Eric at ID) on 400 watts in my Tacoma. Just ordered 2, RE, re12s for a 1.3 cu ft sealed box in my new truck, they'll be running on about 450 watts.

The pair of 12s should have more output than the 10, right?

even with the gain of the ported box the fact that you have more doubled the surface area of your subs will allow the 12's to be louder than the single 10

In theory, yes. If not, get something that can handle more power.

The surface area is gone from 350 cm2 to 1000 cm2 (I think..) and the power is about equal. So almost 3 times the cone area should more than make up for going sealed. Cool.

I know the re12s can't take much power, but they're cheap and supposed to have good SQ. I'm at the first stage of this build, so things will get changed out as stuff breaks and $ is available. I usually start with simple systems and just keep building..
