I plan on purchasing a new c-class in a couple months. After I buy the car I'm going to make some serious upgrades to the audio system. I'm planning on buy two jl 12w7s...qsd 216 components....I haven't decided yet which amps I'm going to get though. Anyways, if I get the multimedia package it comes with 6 disc changer, navigation, etc. I would really like to get the subs & speakers and keep the stock multimedia package, but I'm afraid the sound quality wont be anywhere near as good as if I just left the multimedia package out when I order the car, and buy a aftermarket headunit along with my subs, speakers, and amps... So would my sound quality suffer greatly if I was using the stock unit....I listen to mostly rap and r&b if that helps...

I hope that wasnt too confusing...

I'd suggest getting an aftermarket OEM interface.

Something like the RF 360.2, JL Cleansweep, MTX re-Q, etc, etc...

Then you can interface your aftermarket equipment with the multimedia package.

I'd also suggest listening to the setup first, you may look into amping the stock speakers first, as you'd be very surprised at how great they can sound with a dedicated amplifier.

You want aftermarket speakers, you'll need to rewire, etc, etc... make sure it's done right. Mercedes aren't fun to work on audio wise...
