W12GTi= 91db 1w/1mXXX 12= 83.5db 1w/1m

~3db gain for every doubling in power.

I don't see how the RE should be much louder at all with 2kw than the JBL was at 500 considering it's 8db less efficient. The XXX has over twice the excursion, but isn't making use of the power it's seeing like the JBL does. There may be a small noticeable difference, but it probably wasn't worth the swap in my opinion. They are both great subs. I just received the two W12GTi I ordered earlier this week, and they look very impressive. I'm eager to get them installed. I would make sure you're sending the XXX 2kw if you plan on keeping it in there.

I'm just pointing out that the JBL makes better use of its power. Does the XXX have the potential to get louder? Probably. We're still talking surface area when it comes down to it. I wouldn't have replaced a single 12" woofer with another single 12" woofer and expected it to blow me away, especially since they're both fairly high-end. I'm not knocking either sub.

yeah and if you modle the "optimal box" there is a really big spike at 40hz, but i had the same problem when i first got mine installed with the same combo, however i kinda went with it and hoped it would break in a little bit and to the ear it did seem to get louder after a few days of playing with it, so i would give it a few days and see if it doesnt do a little more for you who knows

hmm ok guys thanks alot for the input it does AWSOME on the lows i was just expecting quite a bit more in the overall loudness of it.. but it is awsome i thinkit will be alot better also if and when i get a yellow top and like a kinetic 2400 or something. I was even thinking of maybe getting a different box tuned to possibly around 36-38 hertz for some more Dbs but i donno just a thouht

You shouldnt have bought a XXX wanting SPL in the first place...

You're looking at a ported box. Xmax means jack. Sensitivity specs are pretty useless too, not only are they spec'd at 1kHz but they are simply calculated based on the T/S parameters, not measured. Cone area motive force and system Q are hugely more important if all you care about is getting loud.

People look at the hugeness of the XXX and the massive pricetag that goes with it and assume that it's a loud sub. Same with the W7. Neither were designed as SPL subs. Consider also that the GTi's aren't exactly slouches...

your running 2000 watts on stock electrical? not good if you are.

PROBABLY the sub is wired to 4 ohms. check your imp and wiring.

gain should not be all the way up. depending on your HU preamp voltage it should be somewhere around halfway up to 2/3'rds up. all bass boost and bass eq need to be turned down. make sure your electrical is able to handle 2kw. stock electricals will not handle this.

its gotta be something in the install that is wrong. if all other variables are righ thten the xxx should be noticably louder....especially with 4 times the power than the jbl
