07 XXX 12" no better then my W12gti?? or did i over estimat the xxx?

hey guys so hears the deal i bought a 07 XXX 12" and a Merlin MD3D so before i put this stuff in i ran some new 1/0 gauge wire from the battery to the trunk and dynamated the trunk and i had to build a box for it and its about 2.6 cubes tuned to 33 hertz and after getting everything in tonight i went for a drive and compared to my old W12gti i had in there off a jl 500/1 like the difference is barely noticable at all?i checked all the settings and even with the gain up and my deck on a bass mode its just not that great? like im gonna check tomorrow but im HOPING is wired to 4 ohms right now and only getting 650watts Rms instead of 2000 at 1 ohm, but like i am SOOOOOOOO dissapointed right now its not even funny... any thoughts such as did i just over estimate the XXX like i was expecting it to be just rediculous bass, and this is all in a 1997 Acura Rl

hmmm...hopefully yur box is correct....The GTI's are nice tho, but maybe yur amp is tuned wrond that what I'm guessing. The xxx should get crazy low

You must have something not wired right. 2000 watts to the XXX should get much louder than the GTI at 500 watts.

yaaa i hope im a ****ING retard and wired something wrong or somethings just set wrong and ya theyre in the same vehicle, only thing is i do need some new batts because my lights are dimming pretty good but still, and i would expect it to just be alot louder all around

How can you mess up parallel wiring? I'm assuming its dual 2 ohms. All it is negative to negative terminal on the subs then add another wire to a negative terminal and run that back to the amps negative and the same for the positive. It should own your gti..If you can, try to see how much power your sub is receiving from the amp with a dmm.

well im not saying that is like pathetic or anything but it just isnt much of a upgrade from the w12gti its is clearer and has a bit deeper bass but not much

W12GTi= 91db 1w/1m

XXX 12= 83.5db 1w/1m

~3db gain for every doubling in power.

I don't see how the RE should be much louder at all with 2kw than the JBL was at 500 considering it's 8db less efficient. The XXX has over twice the excursion, but isn't making use of the power it's seeing like the JBL does. There may be a small noticeable difference, but it probably wasn't worth the swap in my opinion. They are both great subs. I just received the two W12GTi I ordered earlier this week, and they look very impressive. I'm eager to get them installed. I would make sure you're sending the XXX 2kw if you plan on keeping it in there.
