05 XXX power handling?

Well lookin to get my XXX motor reconed, not sure between a 15, or 18 tho.

But teampsi will do the recone, however I'm just wondering if a stock recone is enough with 2000 rms to it. I will be running my crossfire vr4000d @ 4 ohm, so 2000 rms. Team psi suggested doubling up the leads and sewing the leads, and maybe a lil stiffer suspension, but is that needed.

Also what would be a good box size for the xxx running off 2-2400, want it to handle the power well daily...box size for 18 and 15? not sure which one I want yet

I would sew the leads if he is giving ya the option to prevent tinsel slap when that thing is smashing out low-end frequencies //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

Also, I've seen people running 1500-2000w to the stock coils without much problems, but obviously it needs to be clean power. If you send it 2kw clipped to hell and all that, the coil will be up in smoke before you can even smell the smoke //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

As long as your pretty smart with the gains, and turn it down if you smell the coil, you should be okay with the power.

Now, as far as box, I can't honestly say here. I do know they like being tuned kinda low though, so if your porting keep that in mind //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

yeah my gain is the one thing I'm wondering about. I guess I could set it so it would send about 1500.

My hdc3's would just want to heat up after 10 min of full tilt or so

i had a kicker kx2500 at 1 ohm on my 18. the box was on the big side, i never took the time to work it out, i'd say around 7 cubes net, but it didnt like that much power in that particular box. it would get stinky after a song or two, and after about 6 months i tore the tinsels from overexcursion.

i'd say the suggestions he made are good ones.

i'm surprised you get your aqs stinky... mine never stink and they're only copper coils, with about the same amount of power.

I read somewhere that the XXXs like big sealed boxes. Something about a 2.5 cu ft sealed box for a 12". Not sure how big it would be for the 15 or 18
You heard wrong. The recommended sealed box size from RE for the 12 was 1 cube.
The new XXX likes much larger boxes though.
