04 CD8454 vs 05 CD8445 differences

For the record the 8454 was a 2004 model ..... and it has the same cross over points and x overs as the 8455 the 8455 is jsut revised for satalite radio and new looks.
8455 also uses a different remote; it's gotta be better than that POS NOB remote. Slowest, least useful remote I've ever encountered. I had the 8454 in for about 2 hours, and went back to the 9835.

i picked up the CD8445, Would have went with last years higher model for less money but i really wanted to keep my sirius and keep it direct connected. Atleast this way i got my full 3yr warranty and 1 yr theft gaurentee. by the way I love the unit, everyone knows the PROS of the unit so i will list a few things i consider cons (for my partifcular needs)

CONS:

1) No more gold pre-outs on 8v models :/ come-on eclipse for this $ make me happy (no biggie though)

2) The Time Correction sucks (unless im doing something wrong) Its basically presets. You choose door or dash for your tweets and for rear speakers door or other (rear deck) Im upset with this

3) E-Iserv sucks so far as i get errors burning the file to disc and trying to laod audio settings or motion picture (i bet it will work fine when i get a mem stick, i bought a 512 pro for $50 at costco only to realize the unit onl takes regular sticks and max 128)

So far other then that, i really like the unit and still feel out of the cons that i did not need to pay another $100 for the CD8455, Although that model does have better time correction i've heard, and the 3 extra PEQ bands. The extra EQ settings dont bother me as if I find my cars sound isnt up to par with the 7 band my unit has ill wind up adding zapco 30 bands to my setup.

Did you try time correction under advanced mode? You should be able to manually set parameters for each speaker(not just presets)....

yes i did it in advanced mode. I believe i need to get the 8455 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Lucky! I just got the 5444 for $230 + $60 for 5 year warranty.... I could not find an 8454, I really liek the looks of last years modles ALOT better than the new ones. Id take my 5444 over it's equivilant (there isn't really one exactly) of this years. I would easily go with last years unless you need the Sirius. with the money you save you can always upgrade to "this years" next year, or get a 2006 model which will hopefuly look much better than the 05 lineup.

That link says the 8454 can read mp3 and wma files from the memory stick. Is that true? I thought it was only limited to sony's atrac format? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/redface.gif.62fdbfe1a101588a808c4cff71bcb942.gif

I believe it can both read MP3's and rip CD to MP3's to a memory stick. My CD5444 does this, but the lowest compression I can select is 132kbps I wish it did 192 at least. It's cool if your buddy brings over a CD you want to copy, cause you can Rip it to MP3 as you listen to it.

Shinobi-
DId you get your deck yet and where did you get it? Got mine for $289 also off Ebay new in box. Everything works and it was new. still havent gotten around to playing with it.

Mike

Yea I did get it off ebay bause my dealer friend sold his last 8454 before i could get back in touch with him but no worries. I pulled a few strings and got a local eclipse dealer to install it for the full wraanty 3yr + 1yr theft . The deck is truly amazing only complaint I have is remote lagg. Now to build custom pods for my doors for some nice comps.

Shinobi, so what are the crossover points of the 8454?

As for the 8445, the deal on it is Advanced Mode is far short of Pro Mode in functionality (totally diffferent DSP).

Got an eclipse 8454 of Ebay NIB and it was in plastic with all the new items...only problem I seem to have is it stays on when I turn key off anyone with suggestion...

I replaced it with a kenwood I had (older model) and same harness...can't figure it out...

Thanks

kdizzle

p.s. it's wired red to red and yellow to yellow... I also tried switching it (red to yellow) but then I lose the memory...

I agree about the 8445 versus the 8455 and 8454 the 8445 isnt close those decks honestly if you going to spend near 500$ you might as well save up and buy somthign to suit your needs later down the road if you cant get a warranty on the 8454 wait and get the 8455.

Kdizzle make sure your connecting to the right ignition wire. Also does ur factory car harness have a illumination wire ? I had to jump mine to a A/c power wire .

theres should be 2 powers, 1 constant 12 v and one thats 12v when the car is on. U might have to use a DMM to find out which one is which.

found out the it stays on for about 30sec. unless I hit my unlook botton twice... heard someone else having same problem with a chryler car...

still a weird problem. but it works and stores the memory...
