03 Crown Vic Interceptor Questions

I have an 03 Interceptor as the title mentions with a stock amp and battery. I have a Memphis Mojo 2500 RMS Amp with 0 gauge running to it, and I'm installing a 16-MCA2004 4 channel amp next weekend.

I'm gonna have some time in the shop next weekend when I'm doing the install and I'm ordering parts trying to get an idea of what will run all of this. Plan on doing the big 3, but beyond that do you think the 150amp stock alternator will work for this load with just the big 3 and a good 2nd battery? Currently there's heavy light dimming when cranked up.

I currently have 1 mojo 12" and plan on selling it and getting 2 12" or 15" memphis LVS's from ssacket next month.

I don't have the tools at my house to measure voltage drops and as it is my system is apart until next weekend. However according to the non-specific dash voltage meter it drops pretty heavily.

Admittedly car audio isn't my strongest subject although I try to read up on it as much as possible.

So like I asked, should the big 3 and a 2nd battery handle my needs, or should I consider upping the alt?

Upgrading the alternator is a much better electrical upgrade IMHO. Do both, but ALWAYS start with the alternator and then go from there. Always do the BIG 3 first.

Alright, after some measurements ordered 9ft of 1/0 cable. Ordering terminals too and getting pricing on an alt. What are some reputable aftermarket alternator companies / websites?

If you want cheap you should look at DB Electrical. I've had good luck with them, others not so much. If it doesn't do rated you can send it back for a full refund. If you are looking to spend some cash then look at DC power. I found this on Ebay....maybe worth a shot? You could always get it bench tested to see if it actually does rated....

Ford Crown Victoria HIGH AMP 250 Alternator 03 04 05 06 - eBay (item 360332459100 end time Jan-29-11 20:04:44 PST)

Cool ya I had a DB Electrical one on their site bookmarked:

DB Electrical - Ford Crown Victoria 250 Amp High Output Alternator 4.6L 03 8315

although I'm sure its compatible, that 2nd link you sent doesn't list 03 as being compatible and the one on their site for the 03 says only 03, may be a wiring / adapter issue but I'll just order off their site to be on safe side

I think 250 should be plenty right? Especially with a 2nd battery (2nd battery will have to wait a month or so) and big 3

250 is more than enough. Install the alternator and do the Big 3 and you will have 14.4 volts non stop.

Although DB electrical got some good reviews, its looking like mechman has gotten better. Both are pretty close to me, which do you think is better? I don't mind spending a bit extra to know I'm getting qualtiy
