'02 Tahoe dash bezel - how much modification of climate controls is required for 03+ double DIN dash? Also removing OnStar?

I ordered a dashboard bezel from a 2003 Silv/Yuk/Etc. to replace my Tahoe's 1.5din dash with a proper double. It seems a fairly common replacement, but I wanted to ask others who have done this switch how much modification, if any, to the climate controls is required for a good fit?

Also, would removing the OnStar crap at the same time cause any issues?
