Just as the title states, I would like to know if someone can explain pros and cons and even if there are any major audible differences of both. I've tried researching it and there's a ton of info on the 04/05 model but not the earlier version. Here are t/s parameters of each if it helps any -

02/03 XXX: http://web.archive.org/web/20021215112201/www.respl.com/xxxspecs.html

04/05 XXX: New Page 1

And yes I do know they both use the beloved xbl^2 motor...

P.S. For the 04/05 XXX link just wait a couple seconds and it'll load the specs page

The only difference in the motors is in the shape of the bottom plate. You can run both motors with identical parts and be 100% fine.

The soft parts in the 02-03 are "the same" but different from the 04-05.

02-03's use a single stiff spider, a slightly softer cone, and silicon jacketed leadwires (which ******).

The 04-05 uses a dual soft spider , a stiffer cone, and free floating braided leads.
