I am about to get a new Cd player installed and when I get there the guys like oh crap you have a bose head unit, Im like ok and? He tells me that I need a special harness that bypasses the internal amp in the car and he said after I do that my door speakers will sound like crap! Help Please! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif

When ever you deal with Bose car stereo equipment you need a harness. In most Bose systems each speaker has a built-in amplifier and the head unit does nothing but provide a low power signal much in a way the RCA outputs in an aftermarket head unit sends signal to an aftermarket amplifier. The harness he is talking about doesn't bypass the amp. Instead it lowers the aftermarket head unit's speaker output to that of a safe pre-amplification stage for the Bose amps. Think of the harness as a high-to-low signal converter. I had to use that when I first got into installing a stereo system in my Q45. Eventually I just ripped out everything with a Bose label and installed all aftermarket equipment.
