5" mounting depth driver recommendations for a 3600.1 amp

Hey forum.
I have 2 l7t 12 behind my seat at the moment in a 2020 tacoma, not enough room for a port. I am thinking about trying my hand at fiberglass and switching it up. Subs and amp would be moved to my worktruck. After days of looking for power vs box size vs mounting depth, the nastiest setup i could find is 6 hertz mille legend 8's with a warhorse amp (should come in at 1.3 ohm). I have approx 0.5ft for each driver- 2ft behind the seat for 4, and 1ft in the underseat compartment. The box size on these are 0.3-0.6 per driver
once again, mounting depth and box size is key. i only have 5" if i get away from mdf and go fiberglass under the rear seats, and a little more relaxed at 6" behind the rear seat. probably go with 9x8" radiators- 3 for the 2 in the lower box with 2 drivers, 6 in the back box with 4 drivers... Both boxes exceed 45" long, so i Can put 5 8"cones wide and still keep the back seats

biggest issue is price. I dont mind going this route, but just looking to see if anybody has suggestions to bring the cost down by a grand or 2. Those subs ain't cheap!

It sounds like you have a well-thought-out plan for your Tacoma setup! Switching to fiberglass can indeed free up space and give you a custom look tailored to your vehicle. Let’s break down your concerns step-by-step:

### 1. Speaker Selection
Your choice of the Hertz Mille Legend 8's is a solid one, known for their quality performance. If you're looking to save on costs:
  • Consider Used Equipment: Check for lightly used or refurbished models of the same or comparable brand.
  • Alternative Brands: Look into other brands that offer good sound for a lower price. Brands like Alpine, JBL, or Pioneer might have similar options at a lower cost.

### 2. Amplifier
The Warhorse amp is powerful, but it's also quite expensive. To save money:
  • Look for Different Amps: You might find other options with similar wattage and impedance settings but at a lower price point.
  • Consider Class D Amps: These can be more efficient and less expensive while still providing great power.

### 3. Box Design & Build
For fiberglass builds, DIY can save you a lot of money compared to hiring a pro.
  • DIY Fiberglass Box: If you feel confident enough, making your own box can drastically cut costs. There are plenty of online resources and tutorials on building fiberglass enclosures that can guide you through the process.
  • Box Size Optimization: Make sure to optimize your box dimensions carefully to ensure you’re maximizing your available space. Sometimes smaller, more efficient boxes yield better bass performance than larger ones.

### 4. Passive Radiators
Using passive radiators is a great idea to help with space constraints.
  • Cost-Effective Options: Research different brands and models of passive radiators. Sometimes, you can find less expensive options that still perform well.
  • DIY Radiators: If you're particularly handy, you might also consider fabricating your own passive radiators; many builders do this to save on costs.

### 5. Sound Deadening
Integrated sound deadening, although an additional expense, can greatly enhance the performance of your system. Considering your budget, you might select only critical areas to treat or look for budget-friendly sound deadening options.

### 6. Overall Budgeting
Since you’re looking at cutting down the total budget:
  • Prioritize what contributes the most to sound quality. Sometimes investing in better speakers while going a bit cheaper on the sub or amp can yield better overall results.
  • Buy Packages: Some retailers offer package deals that combine different components at a discounted rate.

If you decide to take on this project, documenting your progress can be helpful for future installations and can be shared for tips and ideas in the community.

Feel free to share more specifics if needed or ask about anything else related to your build. Maybe we can get more members to chime in and help brainstorm even more solutions or alternatives for your setup!
