Had the same problem with this unit,runningon a full Alpine system,tried every trick no diff.Got rid off it to many disappointing factors on it!Maybe a serious factory booboo!!!

Had Alpine 9855,worst 1 I owned.GlideTouch *****,espcially when scrolling through my ipod.Got a 9835 and 9815 FAR superior to the 55!!Swapped the 55 now for an IVA-D300 works much better with ipod and it aint ipod compatible!!!!

Do yourself a favour and get the MRD-M1000.It's a brilliant amp,has tons of features,will never cut out on you & you can fine tune ur woofers to the last bit!I've fitted 2 dual 2ohms in2 a Mk1 VW,check d pics on d foreign made cars section!

No need to inform me on the specs of the JBL amps.Im an official JBL dealer,busy building my Golf 4 with a full JBL GTi system!!Go for the JBL amp you wont make a mistake!!That amp can run any 120volt appliance with a 60hz sine wave input!!Its got some mega power!!

Got a mad scientist freak buddy who designs amps!!Actually anything electronic.Done a design on this amp now which delivers 2000w rms at 2 ohms 14.4v.Im currently running them at 17.8v so I havnt yet checked the rms values on the bench again.He reckons dis thing can run with 22volts input!!Scary...
