I know there are alot of posts about recommended amps for the Type R, but I can't seem to find anything about the SWR-1222D. What amps and RMS ratings seem to bring out the best in the Type R?

I am confused with the selection process having to do with ohms, watts, channels, etc. I would like to keep the budget under $300 CAD if possible, so maybe let me know of amps that have...

so the problem ended up being the cd player? sounds like the same problem i am having, is it fixed now? it sure sounds bad for the sub though when it happens, is that true?

it happens while people are sitting in the backseat as well (amp is on the back of the backseat), and also at random times while driving. i will look into new RCA's asap, and if the same problem occurs..then it is an amp problem? what kind of RCA's are recommened?

The deck is an Alpine. How would the RCA outputs on the HU blow? I am a little confused at this. Do you guys think it has something to do with the RCA's, or is it an amp problem? I guess trying out a new pair of RCA's will help determine that?

It seems to happen going over larger bumps, as well as when people are sitting in the backseat. It will happen randomly sometimes while just driving, so it is a little annoying. I will look into the RCA thing, what brand and type of RCA would you recommend? It seems to be something to do with...

isn't the hifonics 1606ds too much power for the type r? it is listed at over 1000 watts rms, isn't that dangerous going so far over the subs listed rms running power?

Hey guys, just wondering of some good amps to power a single 12" Type R dual 2 ohm, in a ported box tuned to 32Hz. I would like to keep the budget below $200 if possible, or else under $300 maximum if possible.

Is this sub not the dual voice coil one? Or did I still buy the wrong Type R for the amp I have? The sub is the ALPINE SWR-1222D. How should this sub be wired to the amp and everything?
