    Certain subwoofers

What would be nice is if most manufacturers provided better enclosure designs instead of just volume and port info. I get that printing big manuals gets expensive but they can post designs online. Bonus points for showing said enclosures measured performance. But the reality is most...

Newer Cars Can't Fit DIN Or Double DIN

Easier said than done. My turn signals sounds and other beeps come from stock HU. Nevermind the fact that almost all of the cars settings are set via the HU. And its only going to get worse. Look at the Tesla 3.

    HiFonics, true scammers

So you can write whatever you want on the specs but as long as you don't overcharge for it, all is good?

    HiFonics, true scammers

Sorry, I can't agree. The box and website say 12db crossover. The crossover box is also intentionally misleading. They could have just put the cap inline and saved the plastic box. But they didn't because they were trying to mislead.

    HiFonics, true scammers

It's easy enough to figure out HiFonics is a zombie company, but they're really scamming people now. I grabbed a pair of the Hifonics ZS65C Zeus Series 6.5" 400-Watt 2-Way components think for $30, I'll take one for the team. Was going to install them in a budget build project but decided to...

    Looking for a radio pod

Have you looked at the Rockford Fosgate DSR-1? Might solve your eq issues and its cheaper than a good head unit.

    What is "SQ" these days?

Yeah, I can see the sponsorship money isn't there, many of the big brands are now zombie companies.

    What is "SQ" these days?

You sound pretty angry. I won't get your blood pressure up too much but I will say, having to not be in your car while competing isn't a reason to have your HU hanging out. If you gave a crap about presentation, you would have a remote setup.

    What is "SQ" these days?

Whatever the reason is, it still looks like crap. Are you saying that installs have gotten cleaner since the 90's?

Measuring a factory system eq curve?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. This looks like it might get the job done. https://www.kicker.com/app/misc/support/tech/tech_papers/docs/SimpleRTAForTestingSignalOnPoweredOutputsAndHowToUseIt.pdf

    What is "SQ" these days?

Its really funny how the car audio landscape has changed over the years. Like the OP, I too fell into the scene in the beginning of the 90's. Things were all about sound quality and clean installs. Now it seems like everything is about being loud, and the installs are atrocious. I love...

Measuring a factory system eq curve?

I have a newer Chevy and it seems to have quite a bit of bass dropoff once the volume gets past the half way mark. Since replacing the head unit is out of the question, I'm trying to see what I'm working with. Is there any reasonably cheap way to measure frequency rolloff at the amp output? I...

Question - How do I get around factory amp roll off?

If he could get pre-amp signals this is a moot point. But if he adds LOCs at the sub output, he's still getting that roll off after 50hz. My thought is LOCs plus a bass restorer like the EPI are going to help restore that rolloff. I'm only suggesting it as a cheap solution. The JBL MS8 is...

Question - How do I get around factory amp roll off?

I wonder if an Epicenter would help that situation.

Adding Amp to Factory Stereo - Line Out Converter

The nice thing about the LC2i is that it attempts to resolve the issue of bass roll off at higher volumes with factory stereos. It isn't a true dsp so it isn't perfect but a lot of people seem to like them instead of the cheaper options. Using taps on the rear speakers is fine on a lease that...
