    my own sub

1 prototype will cost you thousands. You can find an old motor and softparts for ~ maybe 130 total and put it together your self.

blew out a dayton 12" ho

Any decent installer would have tuned it using a 0db tone. Even if it was tuned to 800w (unlikely on that amp) you shouldn't have hit that constantly on music for more than 2 or 3 seconds max as most music is generally recorded at -3 to -6db with some exceptions on bass hits reaching 0db...

Metra kit install randomly wont turn on..

I have a 2008 pontiac g6 and I purchased and installed the 99-3303 Metra Part # 99-3303 | Chevrolet Malibu Dash kit | Metra Online metra kit for the car so that i could have the diagnostics and MPG etc. Everything installed ok and was working. The first time i encountered the problem was about...

Polk DB651's on a 4 chan too loud??

guess so, i expected the 4 channel to push them more than my deck thus making more midbass, the deck actually made twice as much flat. IDK.. They sound good so i'll live with them.

Polk DB651's on a 4 chan too loud??

I have the volume at a great level, i just have zero mid bass. I have a sub that can fill in the lows but the mids are pretty much non existent.

Polk DB651's on a 4 chan too loud??

The amp is running them FULL, the deck crosses them at 90hz.

Polk DB651's on a 4 chan too loud??

I would need to lower the high frequency range by atleast 6db if i wanted to run at 40w rms.

Polk DB651's on a 4 chan too loud??

This is going to sound crazy but, i bought all new speakers for my new car, installed them and decided to go with a 4 channel instead of deck power. I bought an MBQuart ONYX 60.4 and i began to tune the amp. The speakers i have are rated at 60w RMS for the fronts and the backs are rated for 50w...

Problem when calculating Sealed Box design..

So I bought a new car and I no longer have room for ported, which is fine. I decided to calculate out the best sealed box for my sub and so i went here: Car Audio - Sealed Subwoofer Box Design Calculator and used these specs: AV12X-D2 FS: 26.7Hz Qms: 3.67 Vas: 69L Cms: .22mm/N Mms: 161g...

    Tuning my ported box...

A type-r will not take 800w RMS ported. If you are feeding it a legit 800w rms it will seize up in less than 2 months. They're rated for 500w rms and they shouldn't be pushed past it. Any one tells you otherwise it's because they had their amp clipped to hell and thought that because they saw...

How much can type-r's really take?

This ^....... One of my friends decided that they could "handle" much more than rated. Fed them 900w each rms clean for all of 5 days. Seized up on the song Onto the next one - Jay-z Blue Print 3. Lesson learned and +1 for me saying i told him so..

Kenwood kdc-x693 defaults to call mode?

Hey, i just installed a kenwood kdc-x693 in my car and it works fine aside from when i first turn it on, it defaults to CALL mode after 2 seconds of the car being on. In the instructions it says " TEL mute wire " - connect to the terminal that is grounded when either the phone rings or during...

Uhh, is this a good amp? Its awefully cheap...

The root mean square should not be seen as the average any more. It should really be seen as the limit of safe operation the speaker / sub can handle. Anything past that will potentially damage the speaker/sub.
