    Avoiding stock wiring and HU

I'm new to car audio and just bought a 2010 535 BMW E60. It has stock cutouts for shallow 8" woofers under the seat, 4" mids in the front door and tweets in the a-pillar. I grabbed a bunch of three-way dyn sets out of some Volvo C70s (8" 4" and tweets...also have a SA12 going in the trunk) and...

Widebands or tweets for 2way active?

I haven't. I'm very new to car audio. I've logged literally hundreds of hours of research but no 1st hand experience yet. Im really close to just installing things and trying things out. Thing is I'd like to get pretty close to an ideal setup on the 1st shot, and not have to fabricate things...

Widebands or tweets for 2way active?

Wow! Im shocked to hear that. I was convinced those SBs were a sure thing with 91db 1w/1m (I know specs aren't everything) literally everyone I've talked to said those are loud and a great fit. Seasoned vets vouched for them big time. Couple people said they were going to use them with the same...

Morel CAT 378 reference high output?

Hey man I'm considering the CAT378 to pair with some Stevens MB8 mids and an SA-12 sub. I need a high eff tweet and the highest I found was the SB29 at 91db 1w/1m until I seen these CAT378 93db.... would you say that these Morels are indeed more efficient and a better fit than the SB29s?

Widebands or tweets for 2way active?

Ok got it thanks! So basically you're saying go 3way? Keep the MB8s, keep the SB29s and add a midrange with high sensitivity? What would you suggest for a midrange, and where would be a good place to put it? The car is an Altima and Id have to fabricate something by opening a hole in the door...

Widebands or tweets for 2way active?

Im working on a 2way active SQL setup. So far I have a single Sundown SA-12 using a clean 1200rms of an old school Orion HCCA competition amp. A pair of Stevens MB8s (see pic) in the bottom of the front doors(I will be soundteating the doors to the max) I believe the MB8s will be considered...

    Push notifications

Anyone know if caraudio.com supports push notifications for "new thread" alerts through Samsung Internet or another type of browser, if so how are they turned on? I see where the notifications can be turned on when a thread is followed, but it didnt add this website to my browsers list of...

Looking for a tweeter to play at 2kHz with high eff...please advise

Is there a larger and/or compression tweet that you know of that will be more suited to play down to 2k at high volume? I ask because my build is somewhat unconventional, it seems, and the mids I have will require a tweet that will be crossed at 2k...

Looking for a tweeter to play at 2kHz with high eff...please advise

I'm building a 2way front stage and am looking for a tweeter that can play down to 2kHz and has an Fs @ or <1k, that also has high sensitivity ( >92db 1w/1m). Any suggestions will help a lot. Horn or large format tweeters welcome, but I'd like to stay at 2" max if possible. Also the amp it's...

Stevens Audio MB8 as mids for a 2way active

I'm considering slapping the Steven's Audio MB8 in an sedan door with the right tweeter of course. This will be an SPL setup and I'm wondering if anyone has made these work 2way and how it sounded? Any other feedback would be appreciated.

Group 24F vs 34R, please advise

Can someone confirm that group 34R (applicable) is the right choice over a 24F (oem) for my gen 3 Altima? I am upgrading the battery due to my assumption that the planned sound system will need more juice. Ill be running an Orion moon at 1200rms to an SA-12 and ppi 900.4 for the front stage. I...
