Since getting my 160 iPod, I've not got my entire music collection stored on it. The only problem with iPod playback is that the signal level is reduced drastically. I want to be able to just basically go iPod only in my car, but I'm not willing to do that if I cannot raise the signal level so...

Well, I've heard that this is one of the better head units, but it's my understanding the way these adaptors work is to transmit through a defunct FM station? That's something I'm not willing to do as it will already kill sound that's already been killed enough via compression. Am I wrong?

Brief summary... Received an iPod for Christmas and am looking for a head unit that supports iPods. I currently have an Alpine 9813 and am looking to replace that with another head unit that supports iPod playback. Any suggestions? Thanks, Geof

The 4x100 Alpine amp is about $150 cheaper. Would the additional wattage make much difference? Like I said, I'm not looking to destroy the neighborhood.
