Best setup? 8" vs. 10"

Now, before you start posting, READ what I have to say. You know those early 90s model Cadillacs you see the homies driving around in, blasting their shitty music? I'm not that guy. I don't want my setup to wake everyone up in the neighborhood. As a matter of fact, I don't want anybody to hear it very loud if you're more than 10 feet away from my vehicle. What I want, is a more defined bottom end, without rattling my insides. This tells me that it's probably best that I go small.

Now, with that in mind. Would the ideal setup be 2-8"s or 1-10"?

What does the rest of your system comprise of and what kind of amp are you wanting to power the sub with? What's your budget for everything?

HU: Alpine CDA-9813

Front: JL Audio XR650-XSi

Rear: JL Audio XR525-XSi

Have not added an amp yet, but obviously, it will either be a 5 or 6 channel amp. Looking to spend no more than $1500 for the amp and sub(s).

Stereo Integrity BM, great quality and can get loud if you were to ever want to. Good thing is you can get either a 10" or a 12" depending on what you decide. http://www.low-hz.com is where you can buy them, just shoot them an email before you do if you decide to go with it. Also screw the Alpine amps and go for Sundown Audio, SAE-1000D for the sub and the SAX-100.4 for the car speakers.

Can you fit a 12" sub if it can be placed in a smaller sealed enclosure? Don't worry.. the subs below are geared towards SQ/SQL and won't be annoyingly loud. Just nice and clear.
If so, how about this?

Alpine PDX-4.140 $428 shipped

Alpine PDX-1.1100 $485 shipped

Fi Q 12" $259 shipped or RSd12d $129 shipped
The 4x100 Alpine amp is about $150 cheaper. Would the additional wattage make much difference? Like I said, I'm not looking to destroy the neighborhood.

he he, don't know what you consider LOUD, but I have 2 RE8's in a custom ported box tuned to 35hz running off a crappy 300 watt Jensen XA2250 amp, and I just recently had it metered

331db@40hz on dash

333.3db@49hz in kicks

not bad for such a small setup

If your going to spend $1500 on amp+sub

how about this.

Rainbow12" Vanadium in a sealed box

and a

Arc audio or a Zapco amp???

This a good stup for a S/Q, not just stupid loud.
