Very true. I have found great aftermarket speakers in the junkyard, some old pioneers from the mid 90s and some eclipse 6x9s. Also several headunits. You can get some good stuff.

That's a great idea! I'll give that a shot prior to finding a surface mount kit. I got the smallest bit carried by my local ace hardware. It is pretty **** small. Any ideas of about what size I should be using?

So absolutely no gains would be made by covering the entire surface in deadening? I was reading the (stickied) FAQ and it suggested to cover the entire surface.
