Hmm...my Kenwood KDC-X579 (two models down, and last year's) sounds phenomenal!

The Kenwood Excelons (579 and above) have 24-bit DAC, too.

Kenwood Excelon KDC-X679 or Pioneer DEH-P7600MP?

I noticed the KDC-X579 has Burr Brown 24-bit DAC - can only guess the 679 does, too. ~20dB difference in S/N. Just a thought!

Which way should I go...which way should I go...

At the risk of starting yet ANOTHER "what should I buy" thread, what *SHOULD* I buy? $700-800 budget for the whole thing (HU, speakers, sub if poss.). (Hey, ANYBODY can pull off a kickass system with unlimited funds! And if I *had* unlimited funds, I could do trial-and-error until I liked...

Here in North Dakota, the kick panel is a VERY iffy place for speakers. GREAT place for SNOW, though...

new HU up to 150 that plays MP3?

The Aiwa is actually made by Sony. I had already heard that, but also noticed the Copyright Sony Corporation (or whatever the exact wording was) on the Aiwa website! (later corrected...SONY, not Song...[HOLY **** what a difference that error made!! My apologies...])
