Regarding the speakers marked as HD-62EF on TheZeb.

Fawk that. I got Kicker RS6 for $50 less than that with the 1" silk dome tweeters I wanted. At 100watt RMS they won't be starved for power like the true HD-62s would be from my amp that does 90watt RMS per channel. Ps. Good call, I definitely am a cheap bastard:D

Regarding the speakers marked as HD-62EF on TheZeb.

There is no problem, it's just that some people think that they are getting a real HD series speakers with just a tiny difference in size, when in reality they are getting a CL series with cast (instead of stamped) baskets. I almost bought them thinking that they would come with the tweeters I...

Regarding the speakers marked as HD-62EF on TheZeb.

Basically, the ones sold on TheZeb, should not be called HD-62EF, but rather the EF-61. People seem to think that they are the same as the HD-62, but there is in fact a substantial difference between the two. HD-62 - EF-61 180 watt RMS - 120 watt RMS 1" tweeter - 3/4" tweeter 560 crossover...

    Harsh tweeters!!! Need some advice.

The CDTs come with 3/4" tweeter and I already made holes in the doors to accomodate the 1" tweeter from the Infinity Reference components. So not to screw around with anything, I ordered Kicker RS6 components that come with 1" silk dome tweeter and a set of 1/2" speaker rings so that they can...

Need an opinion of someone that recently bought the CL-61A.

OK. Don't bother, I'm going with the Kicker RS6. It's only $30 more than the CDT and by most accounts is every bit the CL-61A's equal. It also comes with the 1" silk dome tweeter that I know will fit and the crossover attenuation goes all the way down to -6db. For my hurting ears (thanks to the...

Need an opinion of someone that recently bought the CL-61A.

My tweeter cutouts in the doors are just perfect for the Reference 1" tweeter or 1.8" The tweeter cutouts for the CL-61A are either 1.5" or 1.58" depending on if they come with the TW-19 tweeters or the TW-20 tweeters. I'm about to order these speakers, but I'm afraid that the cutouts are too...

I need mounting specs on the CDT components.

I'm considering both the CL-61A as well as the HD-62EF. My cutout for the tweeter is about 2" (could be just under 2") and I'm not quite sure if it's too big for the 3/4" tweeters included in the CL-61A set. My mounting depth limit is 2" so I'm quite positive I'll need a spacer ring, though I'm...

Best 1" silk dome tweeters for under $100

I got Crutchfield to take back the Infinitys. I'll get the CDT component set instead.

    Harsh tweeters!!! Need some advice.

Well, I called Crutchfield and they agreed to take them back. Whew! Learned a lesson there. KEEP ALL ORIGINAL PACKAGING!!! Anyways, my next purchase will be a CDT either CL-61A that everyone here loves so much, or the euro sized HD-62EF that all the reviewers rave about. There is about a $50...

Best 1" silk dome tweeters for under $100

I installed the Infinity 6000cs, but I can't stand the tweeters that came with it. I'll keep everything, but want a new set of tweeters. Something that will not be nearly as harsh. I have the system hooked up to a Clarion APA-5241, 5 channel amp with the 4 channels bridged into 2x90 watts RMS +...

    Harsh tweeters!!! Need some advice.

OK. Just checked out the Polks a bit closer. The crossovers included with them, do not have a decibel adjustment for the tweeters. So now they are out of the question. The Polk Momo crossovers have a nice -, -3 and -6db adjustment, but Crutchfield doesn't sell them and I doubt that they would...

    Harsh tweeters!!! Need some advice.

I bought them at crutchfield and their policy allows to do that.

    Harsh tweeters!!! Need some advice.

OK, so I bought (against this board's recommendation) a set of Infinity 6000cs speakers. The speakers sound fantastic hooked up to my amp putting out the recommended 90 watts RMS. I have them hooked up to the -3db on the crossover and all is good untill I crank it up. At that moment my ears want...

dont now what kind of component speakers to get

What about an amp and wiring? You have that already or are you planning on running the components from the head unit?

Factory speaker wiring. Leave it or replace it?

The easy way would be to connect new wiring to the wiring harness adapter's speaker leads and let the signal run through the stock wiring. The problem is that I'm running 90 watts RMS to the speakers and am afraid that the cheap wiring harness connections and 14 year old speaker wires in my 1990...
