Thanks for the info. Now I'm worried as **** though that another deck is going to start hissing at me. I spoke to the guys at the shop and they mentioned right away that it could be the X-over so that's a good sign. I'll take it in next week. Should I ask them to re-ground the deck altogether...

So I got the Pioneer deck installed and it killed the high pitch whining sound 100%. It was the CX501 head unit, who knows what happened but it's toast. But the weird distortion sound is still coming out of the front left speaker/tweeter. It's not noticable while driving but knowing it's there...
