I bought that for my 11yo and told her that I'd give her $30 for her to read it and an essay about it

LOL. My copy arrives today for my 13 year old. They're teaching him communism & CRT, so I figured it be a good read. I may go to teacher conferences tonight and ask is social studies teacher why the school is attempting to "commie" my kid? OTOH, just not being a delusional liberal is enough to keep him from going commie.

Challenge your kid with books with incentives. It's worked extremely well for my kiddo. She's not only leapfrogged her class in reading skills but is becoming a very independent thinker. Both are huge pluses imo

Way too based & logical for Team Left. OTOH, I found out recently that Animal Farm is banned at many schools due to it's anti-communist message. Odd what the left feels is important to expose our kids to and what they need to protect them from.

Doctors, attorneys, teachers, politicians, presidents, have don it too.
I'm not sure I see the connection. Is there an assumption that banning ***** people from bathrooms will stop ****** assault?

We were given copies and had to read them regularly.

But I got to ask.. If kids can't buy or view R rated material at 8 years old, why should the school libraries be able to have books for them that are R rated? Its just weird the obsession for this stuff to be in schools, Seems like any logical adult would say "yes lets remove this smut" but nope the lefties fight for it to be there.. Why???

I would say the lefties that want it are just as extreme as the righties that want to allow grown men to marry 13 y.o. girls. I don't think either example represent the entire group.

In 2022, some 70% of Republicans opposed book banning in schools, and instead felt library staff were capable of picking/choosing age-appropriate material. Democrats numbered 75% in the same opposition to book banning.
It seems a pretty close race to the same end.

Do you think any of this stuff if strange? How do you feel about it? Don't blame it on Trump or show me a chart tell me your feelings about it.

If by "stuff" you are talking transgender, I do find it strange. But I also find it strange that some people love liver and onions, or pray to a hateful "god" that does nothing but test the love of those who adore it.

Ok, I will not beat around the bush I'll ask a simple question and If you can give me a simple yes or no that would be great.

By stuff I mean sexually explicit books in school libraries.
Should we get rid of them? Yes or No?

She does read at a college level so it shouldn't be too hard for her

I used to read a ton in school. I'd literally have book marathons and spend like hours reading hundreds of pages, back in the day haha I'm like a potato now. The hot zone is another book. I read that I really like, but that's about Ebola iirc. Enders game is good too but more about war. The giver is a good movie too, but the book I read in school and it's right in that line of dystopian futures.
