Were you just experimenting to see what you could do, or did someone tell you to do it?The Turbo cars had like 6psi of boost stock. I removed the regulator on the intake and plugged it. I added the blow off valve and was able to run just over 12psi without any issues. This made the car much more fun to drive. An extra 6psi of boost yielding 5hp conservatively at sea level so call it an extra 30-40hp on top of the stock 180hp. The T-5 shifted just fine. Yes, the Turbo 280zx's came with T-5 transmissions.
Did you find out the hard way that it doesn't work well, or did the car get eaten by rust before you found out?
Datsun/Nissan called them Air Flow Meters.AFM? No, these were speed density cars that relied on a carbon track and pick up needle for the signal.
