Maybe but passing peak pricing is just politicians being garbage as usual
This is what I mean:

"Nov 19 (Reuters) - A U.S. congressional commission on Tuesday proposed a Manhattan Project-style initiative to fund the development of AI systems that will be as smart or smarter than humans, amid intensifying competition with China over advanced technologies."

That has nothing to do with local electricity pricing...

If there was a serious AI push, there'd be a corresponding push to increase production capacity to supply the power needs...until there's a serious push (not renewables) for power plant construction then you can take the AI push seriously.

The federal government has the ability to easily fast track permits and construction on the basis of national security but that isn't happening...so far it's nothing but lip service from the white house on this

I disagree; there's a race to win ai and ai data centers are taking huge amounts of electricity (and water) away from people. States and local areas, in order for the whole nation to keep an edge on ai, they need to restrict the average persons electricity usage to win the ai war vs china.

Like how we are unfairly targeted for emissions when china is building dirty coal plant after dirty coal plant able to get all the electricity they need, meanwhile they're trying to make us civilians in the US conserve energy.

"This summer, electricity bills surged across the eastern United States. In Trenton, New Jersey, the average home's monthly bill rose by $26. In Columbus, Ohio, it climbed $27, driven largely by rising costs in the region's wholesale power markets. According to figures from AEP Ohio and regional monitors, demand from data centers is a key factor behind those increases."

there is a huge push to build nuclear reactors to power ai data centers, like 3 mile island nuclear, small modular nuclear reactor tech (SMR) has been developed or talked about a lot in relation to power ai data centers. I mean trump did the ai stargate agreement early on

"Small modular reactors (SMRs) are poised to become the backbone of AI infrastructure, with tech giants committing over $10 billion to nuclear partnerships and 22 gigawatts of projects in development globally. The first commercial SMR-powered data centers will come online by 2030, marking a pivotal shift in how we power the digital economy. This convergence of nuclear technology and artificial intelligence addresses a critical challenge: AI data centers will consume 945 terawatt-hours annually by 2030—equivalent to the entire electricity consumption of Japan—while demanding 24/7 carbon-free power that only nuclear can reliably provide."

Small scale reactors aren't new tech and there's no realistic push to build plants in general (of any kind). The feds have plenty of tools to fast track building and permits but nothing is being done beyond lip service. There's talk and meaningless bills but zero actual action...so no local peak pricing has nothing to do with ai...you're giving shitty politicians way too much credit here

It's not new tech...this is stuff that could've been built a decade ago...yet there's no shovels in the dirt

I'm not saying it's new. All I'm saying is the availability of electricity is becoming less and the price of electricity is becoming more because of the rapid expansion of ai data centers. So when any politician tries to limit electricity usage during a race to build ai, I can't help but assume ai is actually the end game reason. Like the push for smart homes and smart appliances, it's all the same thing IMO.

The "race" is all talk at this point...if it was real thing there'd be a push to build infrastructure.

Right now it's like saying there's a race to produce ammunition while working with a limited supply of powder...it's just some to look good on

I don't understand what you mean when you say there isn't a push already to build infrastructure....

I can go on and on and on with examples idk what you mean there isn't a push

SMR development:

"The project relies on utilizing the NuScale Power Module, a type of Small Modular Reactor (SMR).

“NuScale remains the first and only US NRC-approved SMR technology ready for commercial deployment, making this program a reality,” stated NuScale in a press release.
This certification is a required regulatory step for deploying new reactor designs in the United States.

The NuScale SMR’s design integrates the reactor core, steam generators, and pressurizer into a single, compact vessel. This design offers several potential advantages. The modules can be produced in a factory setting and then shipped to the site, a process that can reduce construction costs and timelines compared to traditional nuclear plants."
