Sub, anyone out there with surround problems ? The surround on my sub deteriorated and I’m out of warranty now . The lord of bass is looking for a good sample of this sub to make repops , any help would be greatly appreciated.

That’s unfortunate. I would think contact Rockford directly to see if they can either sell a recone kit (unlikely they will sell one), or perhaps rebuild it for you for a flat rate cost. Being 19” is going to make finding aftermarket parts difficult. Maybe others that see the thread will have more info, but that sub looks like a tough one to get parts for / recone.

Oh boy it is a tough one 2 k sub basically a paper weight because since I let the warranty run out Fosgate won’t fix or sell parts . Thnx for the input

Hopefully Lord Of Bass can source parts. I can't believe Rockford don't offer recones on a specialty sub like that; I also looked and could not find anything.

Yessir lord of bass can manufacture parts but he’ll need an example of a working fully functioning one , thnx again

lol didn’t explode although it looks like it did , it just sort of crumbled , ya man for a 2 k sub this is really disappointing . Rockford let me dwn

I'm mostly shocked that the surround exploded like that.

The size of the box is probably responsible.

I'd sell it as is and move on.

If op is in Eloy Az the heat can be brutal, that said I'd ask if it was parked in direct sunlight or another contributing factor. Generally Rf products last, T2 or P3... if the surround crumbled of it own accord I'd be surprised.

I've been in the Phx area or Tucson for years and direct sunlight does weird things. Try climbing in a car with black interior if the vehicle has been in direct sunlight awhile... ouch.

I laughed when my ex bought her new Mustang with a black interior... in Az. Fire engine red paint /w/ flake too.

There has to be something else involved.

The cheaper Kicker’s too, that still use a foam surround. I have some like new newer Comp 10’s with the modern K logo with rotted surround. The Comp is not a very good model these days in my opinion, but just saying they rot like this too.

My cheaper 25 year old Rockford Punch subs crumbled too over the years, still have some 8's and a 10 laying around that need surrounds.


I personally steer clear of any proprietary subs like this that don't use common size parts unless it's a throw away budget sub and it doesn't matter. I'm sure that RF 19" performed decently, but for that price there needs be recones for it.

It's sad when my Jensen subs foam has outlasted the better brands I've had of the same vintage in the same environments.

Hopefully the OP can source it, but if not may be able to sell to somebody that wants the motor, IDK.
