I love how he says "It's very simple." and then openly demonstrates it's a concept he doesn't understand in the least.
If the imports get banned, that means no more exports from our local producers. That means his import tariffs still don't do dick to the foreign exporters. That means even more subsidies from our tax dollars to support the local producers.
How is killing the income of US businesses and increasing the cost of living for us a "win"?

Shouldn't they either charge these guys are not? How long have these charges been dragging on?
They charged them, it went to court, it got appealed, and now it's getting appealed again.
When Romania is done with them, the UK is going to want their turn at them for not paying taxes on £21m from their online **** business.

*** traffickers, and tax evaders. But Trump wants to help them escape prosecution because they are extreme right-wingers who preached his word.
The optics on it are great, huh?

Looks like they can't even get the actual court case started. I thought Trump said they should be treated better. How is that helping them escape prosecution?

Sounds like a bunch of noise about nothing. I don't see a lot of US food products when I go to Europe and Europe already bans all the GMO, pesticides, etc that we use in the US.

It's not like they said we are going to stop sending you apples so Trump said fine, we will stop sending you apples too. He said reciprocal tariffs. He didn't say on what products. Obviously it would be to affect their economy. You know, he didn't make it this far in life being a stupid person.

It looks like they were under house arrest for a few months, but were released in January and can travel Romania freely.

Does the US have any type of stipulations on criminal prosecution where the suspect isn't allowed to leave a prescribed area, like the state they are in, or the country?
Could it be that given they are also accused of crimes in the UK, the Romanians have said "Do not leave Romania until this case is prosecuted"?

Why is Trump in such a hurry to see them escape the place trying to prosecute them for human trafficking, money laundering, and organized crime? Why does he not want the UK to prosecute them for tax evasion and ****** misconduct there? Romania has already said they will extradite.

In 2023 we exported $178 Billion worth of food product.
With 1/3 of US farmers already receiving subsidies, I would bet that ANY reduction in exports is going to be picked up by the feds, with even more subsidies.

The question lies in how MUCH other countries can live without us, similar to how MUCH we can live without products from other countries.

Huh? The EU is talking about banning food from the US, That means we will not be selling food to THEM.
They're not talking about charging their own citizens additional tax on the goods (like Trump wants to do to US), they are talking about not buying the goods from us at all.

“We’re having reciprocal tariffs. Whatever they charge, we charge. It’s very simple. If a certain country — like India, which is very high tariff — if they charge us X dollars, we charge them X dollars,” Trump said.

WE DO NOT CHARGE THEM TARIFFS ON GOODS THEY SHIP TO US. WE CHARGE OUR OWN CITIZENS THE TARIFF. THAT IS WHAT AN IMPORT TARIFF IS.

Just because you say Trump is trying to assist them in escaping Romania doesn't make it so.

How much of that went to Europe? We use hormones, GMO & pesticides that aren't allowed in Europe. When you buy a Coke in Europe it was made locally and even tastes different.

Go look at the shelves in Walmart and I'd guess about 90% couldn't be sold as is in Europe because they have stricter regs on chemicals used in food. Which frankly I wish we had here tbh

(IMHO) It won't even be reciprocal in the end. Tariffs will vary depending on the situation and product. IE, I highly doubt any nation is going to hit the US with tariffs on defense equipment. In the end, I think he's just trying to even the playing field.
