It seems that it was the US Forest Service that decided to stop prescribed burns to make firebreaks in October.Great so we all agree that Newsom & Co should have had fire breaks and thus are negligent, incompetent, etc. I don't know when Cali stopped making fire breaks, but whoever was in office is welcome to take credit for that regardless of their political affiliation. California certainly didn't turn to shyt overnight. Hell LA was a shythole when I was there in the early 90s. I have no idea why you would think I'm some sort of party loyalist. So you think Brown did a good job with fire management/prevention or are you condemning Newsom now???
I have put effort into finding any info on the lack of firebreaks or the cancellation of their creation and maintenance, but nothing out there other than the accusations.
Can you share some data?
It looks like the wildfires have been bad regardless of who the governor is.
Though there seems to have been a historically bad spike in 2007 and 2008 under Republican leadership following the Democratic leadership. It settled down again under Democratic leadership for a long stretch before ti went crazy again.
I'd have to know a lot more about the fires before I would assign blame to a governor. Were they state land? Were they under federal control? What caused the fires? Who was in charge of fighting them? Etc.
