Happy Jan 6th

My only contribution to this thread since, I can see this thread is already getting stupid, with the same idiot trumpers using the same idiotic arguments. Just going to keep deflecting and lying till the end.

The election in Colorado and Maine, and every other state are state elections. The Supreme Court has no authority over a state election. Don't like it? Then get rid of the electoral college, (good luck with that republicans). The 14th amendment says nothing about being convicted. If that state finds proof, then that's all they need.

The states run the elections but they have no authority to determine who is qualified...

I tend to disagree. It's both a Federal election & the States are using not just Federal Law, but the Constitution to keep Trump off the ballot, so it's definitely the Ussc's business. In the Colorado case, I don't see where provedhe committed insurrection.

The states exercise all sorts of authority over who and what gets on their ballots. They can (and should IMHO) do away with the electoral system for POTUS.

Ultimately, this is just political theater since Trump won't win either state anyway. IMHO, political theater serves to benefit Trump and might explain why GOP voters brought the case in Colorado.

They can and if they want to they should do it in a legal manner...call for a convention of states and ratify that portion of our founding docs...

As it stands...states don't get to decide who is eligible for president...

And let's not forget the electoral college despite its flaws prevents 5 or 6 cities from deciding the election...

Nope they're using allegations as law...show me a conviction of sedition or treason...then maybe they'd be using the law properly...
We agree on this point. IMHO, if the states are going to use the 14th, then either they need a prior conviction or need to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt that Trump is guilty of insurrection.

That's all I'd need to be OK with pulling him from the ballot...as it stands it's just politics at its worst imo

Agreed. When Colorado has a case to get him off the ballot, finds he is an insurrectionist and therefore legally cannot be on the ballot, yet leave him on the ballot anyway, it taints everything.

Ie, I think there are bunch of people associated with Jan 6th that should spend time behind bars. However, when you bring an obvious joke of case like this before the court, you're providing cover/justification for those who would dismiss anything associated with Jan 6th as a witch hunt. That’s why it is curious that case was brought by 4 registered Republicans & 2 unaffiliated voters.

Our whole gov is a shit show lol. That's why someone like Trump even entered the picture, is because that's how bad and incompetent the people in the gov are. Idk why people don't see that we all think the gov isn't functioning properly and pitting people against each other to save their own power, because I think that's what j6 is all about. People in power want to manifest a civil war type scenario to lock their power structure into place if or when it happens.

Agreed, but (IMHO), the GOP should have stepped up and participated more in what is a serious matter. Unfortunately, the GOP left the Jan 6th committee completely in the hands of those who wanted to bludgeon Trump.

Similarly, where are the liberals standing up to the more extreme stuff coming from *****+? We can protect the ***** community without warping gender norms beyond recognition and letting dudes compete in women’s sports.

No. Not even close, and this is part of their massive intentional spread of ignorance and misinformation. You are part of the problem. Why do I say that? Because you quoted a comment about january 6th, and tried to turn it into an all government problem.

You are actively being part of the trumper flock of sheep that lies and speaks out from ignorance in order to justify the next person so you can keep the ball rolling, in order to justify your own victimhood. January 6 was trump trying to destroy democracy.

I'll say it again since you're trying not to listen. January 6 was trump trying to destroy democracy. He swore an oath to the Constitution, which he tried to circumvent, in order to illegal retain power, because he is a 5 year old spoiled brat that had everything handed to him, never worked an honest day's labor in his life, and has never learned respect. 70 years later, that's what the blob of shit has become.

Have you ever worked in or for the government? The how the F can you make such an ignorant *** comment about "all government"? F U.

Most of the people who work in our government, do so as a long life-long commitment to service. The USA is the youngest superpower, and is still learning democracy. We're still making laws to improve the government and the country. How long do you think it's supposed to take a country to start, create laws, grow, and get it perfect??? Of course there are people who are in it for their own gain, but for SOME PEOPLE, as long as they claim to be on your side, you're happy to go along with the lie.
