I agree that the dome is where off-topic should go and it's been great for that over the years. The issue I'm seeing, is that lately, most posts go in 1 thread only and we know what thread that is (was). There are 1000s of topics to discuss besides that, but it was front and center and turned in to a shouting match "ballbreaking" between members. Let's face it, that nothing good ever comes of that and it only escalates. I've been told my several webmasters that political threads should not be allowed and are a "forum killer". Just putting that out there...

Maybe you should just kill off threads after a while or put a 2-5 post limit per thread (instead of per forum). That would lead to more topic specific threads instead of what became one thread for everything related to politics. Hypothetically certain threads would die of there own volition.

I'd say the winners thread should remain locked as it appears it's original purpose was a place for Biden voters to gloat and clearly it's devolved into something else.

It's no better than people who claimed it cured covid. It's (by a pharmaceutical standard) an extremely safe drug to take but it's been politicized to no end at this point

There was a lot of "maybe" info all around...honestly if the covid vax would've been tested like every other vax to that point, I probably would've gotten it

That “might have” data only came about because people felt like they were going to be forced to take the vax, or lose ability to work or live life. I’m guilty of that myself. I never felt the need to justify why I didn’t want to take a drug before. Prior to Covid, I could just say I didn’t want it, and normal people said “ok”.

They couldn't sit around and use the usual process - it wasn't a realistic option.

That’s not accurate. Many people lost their jobs over this or resigned, especially in the healthcare industry. You’re playing fast and loose with the history now. What was vaccine confidence in 2012? For any number to be an accurate metric, you must know what vax confidence in 2017, 2018 and 2019 was. Is this all vaccines, or just the covid vax? I don’t see any extra “right wing” anything on my social media that wasn’t there before. That sounds like a NBC talking point to me.

I spoke directly to 3 different doctors in the beginning. They advised against the Vaccine when it first came out. Their arguments were similar. "Do you want to take a vaccine that has not been tested through clinical trials to be proven effective?" They also spoke of unknown side effects as well as possible long term effects. Two of the three said that if I think my immune system is strong enough to fight it off then that is what they suggest. I listened, I got COVID, I lived. It wasn't left biased or right biased.

The vaccines might be better now and more effective now but who cares? Is COVID going to harm anyone now? A day late and a dollar short.

It really was an option...the media did a really nice job of framing as the beginning of Stephen king's The Stand.
