UFO’s and aliens are real. The trick is the alien invasion on Earth happened thousands of years ago. The military has recovered both crashed and shot down UFO’s, and they’ve reverse engineered UFO’s to boost their own technology. When you see things like advanced stealth aircraft and the Navy patenting UFO-like tech, stuff like that, the technology is partly from reverse engineering UFO’s. Most UFO incidents or reports are usually just super secret human-made craft by militaries or MIC aerospace companies.
What the gov is doing is trying to promote a fear narrative around aliens and an invasion. It’s just another way to have a national security threat to justify bigger budgets, gain more control, etc., like 9/11 and Covid did, for example.
