When I touch the housing of my amp with my test light it lights up

That could be good or bad. Is the test amp hooked up to 12v+? If that's the case, then you're just completing te circuit.

Check to make sure your ground location for the amplifier is Solid and a good secured location of Paint and grease/debris

The ground is self tapped to floor of tahoe

Most of us would suggest against using a self tapper for a ground. Grounds should be bolted to clean shiny metal.

I had a typo in my earlier post. I meant to ask if the test lamp (not test amp) was hooked up to 12v+?

You may need to find a more secure ground location.Self tappers are usually not very secure for a ground and usually a poor source on sheet metal. Find a bolt that that is more towards the frame section of the vehicle and utilize that with washers and a terminal ring cleaned from paint ect.

A seat bolt may work just fine with a couple washers and ring terminal sandwiched in between clean/ remove paint to metal
