"We" are saying these types of events are not acceptable in public places. What you do in the privacy of your own home has to rise to a different level of unacceptability for society to intrude upon the privacy of your home. Ie, I could give a flying shyt less if you bang your wife while she hangs upside down from a chandelier when you're in privacy of your home - totally unacceptable in public. OTOH, beating your wife senseless is unacceptable anywhere.

I'm still really baffled that these concepts that most of us take for granted require explaining.

I just pointed out nih funding was used for gain of function...I know fauci is a proponent of gain of function research...but honestly I'm on the fence how much he or the nih knew...

I guess it would make you happy for me to say, start kicking people's doors and arresting them for being LBGTQ supporters and start rounding up the all the drag queens and take people kids from them because I don't agree with their parenting choices, etc, etc, etc? However, that's not consistent with my belief system.

I'm having a hard time believing you are this dense and incapable of understanding the differences here. How do you get thru life if simple concepts like this are beyond your grasp??? Just because I believe something is inappropriate, bad parenting, etc doesn't mean I think the gov't needs to start kicking in people's doors and arresting people every time it happens. I'm not sure why you have difficulty understanding this simple concept that our society operates on.

I'll give you yet another example even though it'll probably fly over your head again. You're welcome to let your 5 year old watch R rated movies in your home. Do I think that's bad parenting - yes. Do I think the police should come kick in your door and haul your ass off to jail because of it - no. Does that mean you can take your 5 year old to an R rated movie at a movie theater - no. Does that make sense to you?

I won't lie that I'm not a fauci fan...I knew about him before covid and his "missteps"...he's said it multiple times over the years but I could only find that video...the search results with his name are just overwhelmingly spammed up with pro or con opinion stuff anymore...
