OPEC is not refusing to up production to fill a gap, they are refusing to create a glut that will drive prices down.
OOEC has stated that they do not feel there is a supply imbalance at this time. I’m sure you understand their impetus better than they do, but here is a fact:
“OPEC+ announced it would maintain its output increase at 400,000 barrels a day, issuing a statement that said the “current oil market fundamentals and the consensus on its outlook pointed to a well-balanced market.” It added that the current price volatility is not caused by changes in market fundamentals but rather current geopolitical developments”
Read that a few times and let it sink in, then tell me that they are saying they won’t make up for a shortage.
