I recently installed a new Morel CCWR254 2-1/2 Midrange in my dash to test out for a left dash speaker, it can function as a midrange/tweeter. It replaced a Kenwood Excelon KFC-X3c Coax that worked fine, see pic. Have the other Kenwood still installed in the right dash and it works fine. Its installed in a 2021 Jeep Wrangler with the base 7 inch stock unconnect radio.

The Morel worked fine for about 15 minutes and stopped working. I pulled the fuse and reset the radio and the left dash speaker (Morel) started working again, but it stopped working again. It's possible it stopped working after I turned the volume up to 3/4's, not sure.

I'm novice so looking for ideas about what is causing it. No bass blockers, crossovers, or capacitors are installed with the Morel speaker. The right dash speaker is a Kenwood Excelon KFC-X3C and it works fine and the left is the Morel currently. Is it possible since the left and right speakers are different its causing the issue, different sensitivity or resistance.

Supposedly the factory radio is only sending the signal for this type of speaker and sends the bass signal the knee pod speakers.

That is probably the issue. You can play lower resistance at moderate levels, but with higher volume the strain rises on the amp section of the radio, hence protection kicks in. Does the Morel really sound better?

It sounds better in my view. What you said makes sense, eventually I'll add and amp and hopefully this will be a non-issues.

This tested well on youtube - not familiar with the brand but it is a pretty standard china build house amplifier...

I agree with every one above. OFC is much better. Copper is a much better conductor than aluminum.

Pretty much. It's just a nice kit. A solo rite Scarlett 2i2, XLR mic and a loop back cable are my next purchases so I can get accurate phase...
