Food, water and shelter are all you need. Everything else is incidental.
Jobs pay what they pay. It is not the employers responsibility to make sure you have everything you want by paying you more. It is YOUR responsibility to find a job that pays what you would like in order to pay for the extra things you want.
I make X amount of money delivering pizza. It buys Food, Water and Shelter... plus a little extra. If I want more than what my wages can buy then I make sacrifices OR work my way up to higher paying positions or find a job that has higher wages already. You don't tell the employer how much to pay. Set the minimum and if an employee wants more, then go find more and earn it.
