Hi everyone, first post here. Haven't dipped my toes into car audio since college, over ten years ago. I'm glad to see new tech, especially the DSP tied into phone apps and the numerous settings

I have a 2013 FordEdge Sport with the Sony sound system. I upgraded all the speakers to Kicker KS series and I'm happy with them but that muddy HU bugs me. So I ordered all this today along with the wires/harnesses etc:
Rockford Fosgate DSR1
JBL DSP4086 8 channel amp
Kicker 46CXA400.1T mono amp
Kicker 48CWRT82 8" dual 2ohm

My last system was stolen so I'm going to integrate and hide everything the best I can. I plan on using the factory box but was wondering about porting that box.

Anyone ever try this? With the box behind the quarter panel I'm not clear on how a port would operate, airflow mostly.

Make a box maybe that fits in the factory spot, that's always an option too. If you get me the internal airspace size of the OG box, then I could see if it would maybe work ported. But to port, it may be difficult with it being behind that panel. Idk, you could do a bandpass and hide the woofer inside, and bolt it to the actual floor from inside, so they'd have a really hard time stealing that without destroying it.

I'm kind of liking the bad pass box. The sub is a 8" so it's small and there is room near the spare tire. It would be covered by the plastic floor piece over the spare but with a well placed port this can be negated. Thanks for the help.

Just need to know the actual space and what sub it is.

You could try to make the port longer, but there might be other reasons with the box won't extend lower, or even the sub. You'd have to reverse...
