Hilarious. I worked for a big non-profit during the Obama election that was specifically pushing for minimum wage, not because we cared specifically for minimum wage, but nonprofit laws dictate that you have to be supporting a cause, not a specific political campaign.

Sigh since people don't understand how that pipeline actually was going to work let me spell it out for you.

That pipeline was only going to benefit ONE COUNTRY! And guess what it was NOT the USA! There is ONLY 3...YES 3 refineries in the WORLD that can refine that sludge and trust me it is sludge, toxic and destroys refinery equipment like you wouldn't believe. 2 of those are in China, one is in the southern US. My dad worked and build the last refinery ever built in the country. He retired from there, was one of there Foreman Machinists, wrote the program that they and many refineries still use to this day to figure out pump vibrations in a oil refinery.

The refinery in the US my dad has been at and knows the people who run it. That refinery wanted NOTHING to do with that sludge. That pipeline in the end was only going to create AT BEST 30 full time jobs. It was NOT going to make this country more oil independent. That pipeline has had leaks from the very beginning in Canada to some here in the States. That stuff is so toxic that only China wants it in order to give them more oil. Cancelling that project hurt China big time and did NOT hurt the USA and the ability to be Oil Independent. My dad witnessed what just 20 barrels of that stuff does to the equipment in that refinery when he visited it. The amount of damage from such a small amount was as he said "nothing like had seen before when refining oil".

Right now most refineries are only running at 50-60% capacity. They have the ability to run safely at over 90% capacity. They are not doing so because well that means more output, more gasoline available to the open market meaning lower prices and less money for them.

There is also this big time misconception that the reason why there hasn't been a new oil refinery in the US built is because of the EPA....WRONG! The oil refineries do NOT want to build more oil refineries because once again that means more gasoline, more output and cheaper gasoline prices which they do NOT want to happen.

Guess what right now an overwhelming majority of the tankers coming into the US ports are sitting there on average 3-6 months before being off-loaded and sent to be refined. We do NOT have a shortage of oil in this country nor will we for a very long time. Not when we are putting out more then some of the so called Oil Rich Countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia.

By killing that pipeline Biden stopped China from getting more oil. We wanted nothing to do with it nor should we. The amount of nasty and I mean nasty by-products that crap makes and the way it destroys equipment ends up not making it worthwhile in the long run. I knew quite a few people who were out there as pipeline workers and every one was glad to get away from that project. There is ALWAYS work for those guys none of them are hurting or looking for work. To think that that pipeline had anything to do with any kind of shortage or gas increase or was going to make us even more oil independent is absolutely dead wrong and quite frankly crazy to even think it was like that.

This is all a math game. Minimum wage doesn’t matter to companies. We can all just raise prices to compensate. When companies have monopolized whole industries, this means that they just raise prices and take the money right back from the same people they pay, who are forced to shop at their store at elevated prices, minimum wage increase is a scam to make poor people think they “care”.

Because the ceo's would never agree to lose a dollar

It’s astounding how liberal politicians would rather control corporations than destroy them, you know, hating them so much and all. It’s a weird game they play to be able to fool people that they hate something while simultaneously propping them up and funding them on purpose.

The weirdest thing about arguing with liberals, is that I agree with liberal voters (real people) on most issues, but the solutions to these issues just doesn’t make any ******* sense. Since we the voters half *** think everything and have the attention span of a cocker spaniel, we don’t notice that they eloquently pointed out the problem, then screwed us on the hard work of coming up with a solution.

Taxes for Walmart doesn’t even mean anything any more. They have virtually no competition in their industry. For raising taxes to work as a strategy in a free market, there has to be many companies competing in the same industry who have to raise their prices at the same level as Walmart to keep profitable and pay their employees the same wage. If there was a dozen smaller competing company who were willing to only make 1 billion dollars for selling the same amount of products that Walmart sells and makes a profit of 2 billion for, the economy would work the way it should. That’s been destroyed already.
My family was the competition for 50+ years in a small (under 10 employees) retail business, so yes, we watched (increasing) tax issues, as well as the impending $15.00 dollar an hour wages eventually close our business. The irony of it all, big business (Slo_Ride hates so much) are now paying close to $15.00 an hour, and in some cases even more, but nobody’s any better for it. Unfortunately you are very right, even my complaints “doesn’t even mean anything any more”, but others (complaints) here are ridiculous.
